Master Plan for Aging

The California Master Plan for Aging is a blueprint to prepare the state for growth of California’s aging population. It has five goals:

  1. Housing for All Stages & Ages
  2. Health Reimagined
  3. Inclusion & Equity, not Isolation
  4. Caregiving that Works
  5. Affording Aging

Villages are included in the Plan. Goal Three includes objective #90 “Promote and adapt village models of volunteerism and services to reflect the strengths of California’s diverse communities.” Village Movement California is leading efforts to fulfill the objective so that more older adults have access to our life affirming communities.

OUR 2022 BUDGET REQUEST

Village Movement California has submitted a budget request to the California Department of Aging, California Assembly, and California Senate for the purpose of fulfilling the village objective.

The one time, $3 million request will support a three year pilot project to start up new villages  and expand existing villages’ footprint in underserved communities. The budget request is being taken up by the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #1 on Health and Human Services, and by the Senate Budget Subcommittee #3 on Health and Human Services.

Read the Fact Sheet that describes the request.

Read Representative Marc Levine’s letter of request.
