The science is clear. Connection is health care.

Village Movement California is proud to stand alongside the Foundation for Social Connection, UCSF Northern California Coalition for Social Connection, Social Prescribing USA, Front Porch, and MetLife as partners in advancing social prescribing across California.

Our Board Chair, Kate Hoepke, attended the recent SF Social Prescribing Vibrant Communities Workshop, where community leaders, physicians, and researchers came together to build the referral pathways that connect people to the community resources that support wellbeing and belonging.

Villages have always been part of the answer. Our statewide network of peer-led villages helps older adults age in place through exactly the kind of social connection, purpose, and community engagement that social prescribing seeks to bring into health care.

Social prescribing is a low risk, high value strategy to improve wellbeing and reduce the overall burden on our healthcare system. The community assets are here. The science is clear. The moment is now for all of us.
